The Hague System is a fast way to obtain design protection in multiple jurisdictions through a single application, reducing the language complications, formalities and expense often associated with international protection. The system requires no prior national application and allows registrations to be managed centrally at the level of the contracting parties.
On 5 February 2022, the Government of China deposited its instrument of accession to the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement, bringing the total number of countries covered by the Hague system to 94.
As a non-resident, from 5 May 2022, you will be able to obtain design protection in China, which will facilitate the international development of your business in Asian markets.
